Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio (that's right I'm a Browns fan) and I had some really hard working parents. We weren't dirt poor but we struggled. When I entered high school, I became this "big time" football player and earned a football scholarship to Indiana University. I ended up finishing my collegiate career at Ohio Northern University which I happen to think is the greatest school on earth! From there, I got a try out with the Cleveland Browns which was a dream come true! Ultimately, the National Football League didn't work out for me but it was certainly a fun ride.

I married my dream girl, Tammy, my freshman year of college. We began with one little rascal and today we have three. They're my prized possessions.

Tammy and I were poor while I was in school. We were on welfare and frequently worried about our future. But we were also big dreamers and even bigger risk takers! Upon graduating from ONU, we relocated here to Raleigh, NC to start a new life and work our tails off to create something for our family, and that we did.

I took on a couple part-time jobs while my wife worked as a Correctional Officer for the state, and then I became a Raleigh Police Officer. While working for the police department I went to real estate school to get my real estate license. I knew I wanted to be in business and I knew that I wanted to do great work serving the market in a different way.

After earning my license I signed on to work with the #1 Real Estate Company in the Triangle, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston. Right away, between patrolling the streets of Raleigh as a police officer then getting off from work, throwing on my suit to go show or list homes, I was working 16-18 hour days. But I loved the hustle and I wanted to be in business full time.

Finally, Tammy and I built the business enough to where she no longer needed to work as a Correctional Officer and I no longer needed to work for the Raleigh Police Department. We quit our jobs and jumped into real estate with both feet at the worst time since the Great Depression, during the Great Recession!

Was it scary? Oh you bet it was! But that's what drove us. The sense of urgency to win!

Today, I'm proud to say that I'm known as a rising leader in the real estate industry here in the Triangle and happen to be the Founder and CEO at Urhous among many other accolades. But honestly, what really matters to me is how Tammy and I got here. And the way we've arrived at this point is by bringing value to others. That's it! No big secret - just value. Hopefully I can do the same for you.
